Bruker Amazon-ETD Mass Spectrometer

Ion trap mass spectrometer coupled with Agilent Chip Cube liquid chromatography.
Columns with a 75µm diameter on a chip are used on this apparatus, to ensure maximum sensitivity (<10fmol).

Applications:

Nano-LC-MS or nano-LC-MSn analyses of peptides.
Identification of proteins with high sensitivity in little complex mixtures: 1D gels, DIGE, and in 1D and 2D HPLC fractions.
This apparatus has an ETD source that is very useful to analyse post-translational modifications to proteins.  The ETD option of the mass spectrometer can preserve post-translational modifications at fragmentation. For example, it is possible to fragment a phosphorylated peptide without losing phosphate during fragmentation, thus enabling its localisation.
